About me

The Coaching Practice is the posh name for me, Sharon Baylis (aka Sharon Bott - my married name).

What am I?

I’m a trained counsellor, experienced life coach, motivator and workshop facilitator.

A graduate of Bristol University (English and Drama) and the Drama Studio, I spent 20 years as a professional actress working in TV, radio, film, voice-over and on the West End stage.

As a partner in the video production company Illuminated Word, I’ve written and produced more than 100 corporate videos, working with plcs, charities and major companies.

I’m an experienced public speaker and presenter. As communications consultant, media trainer and presentation skills coach, I’ve worked with individuals and groups to help them to break though their ‘presentation barriers’ to be themselves - and enjoy themselves - in front of an audience or camera (see www.sharonbaylis.com).

I’ve developed my own highly successful business in the field of natural health and nutrition (see foreverfuture.net) and mentor a growing number of other entrepreneurs to build significant incomes and take control of their lives.

Possibly my proudest achievement? I’ve been happily married to film-maker Michael Bott (see www.standingwithstones.com) for 25 years and have two children, Eliza and Jonty.

Who am I?

Let me share with you my life purpose and values. My purpose is:

  • to be myself, no matter the cost.
  • to live a life that allows for the expression of my creativity and exchanging my special gifts with the world.
  • to laugh often, and know to my core the meaning of love, friendship and sleeping in.
  • to inspire others to dare to dream - and to help them to make their dreams come true.
  • to be a midwife to miracles.

My values, which are at the heart of who I am, are:

  • Love and passion - sharing my gifts generously, giving myself wholeheartedly to life.
  • Self-expression - the freedom to speak my truth and to be the one that I’ve been waiting for.
  • Courage - choosing faith over fear; acting boldly and not stopping when I’m afraid.
  • Humility - giving up all those disempowering perceptions and beliefs
  • Gratitude - which makes sense of my past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.

I promise to be true to my purpose and to operate consistent with my values. This is who I am. This is what you can count on.

What do they say about me?

“I found the coaching sessions with Sharon magical … She has a gentle but straight style. I did not feel judged but equally I was not allowed to get away with any attempts at self-delusion. For me this was a powerful combination.”

Dr Allison Fraser, Chief Executive, Sandwell MBC

“When Sharon coaches me, I feel both heard with compassion and challenged to do what’s right for me. I trust her completely and can highly recommend her services.”

Joella Bruckshaw, Executive Coach

“Sharon was the speaker at our last networking event and was superb, truly inspirational.  So many women commented on her presentation on leadership and development, which was dynamic and highly motivating.

“WBDA clients are all ages and come from many different backgrounds; the positive energy Sharon created together with her warm caring attitude endeared her to everyone present.”

Joy Hunter, Deputy Director, Women’s Business Development Agency (WBDA)

“Thank you for being a constant source of support, challenge and plain common sense, as well as fun, throughout our coaching relationship. Your warmth, fearless compassion and balanced perspective has seen me through some sticky moments.”

Louise Barnett, Strategy and Communications Manager, Sandwell MBC
